Background and contents

7th Passivhus Norden is an open-minded conference for architects, engineers, builders, contractors, manufacturers and researchers focusing on highly energy-efficient and in wider sense sustainable and green buildings and cities.

The conference will gather the latest knowledge and most recent experience within the field. Experienced and young researchers as well as practitioners from the Nordic countries present during the two days conference about 70 lectures on a variety of specific agendas:

  • Results and experiences from specific energy renovations and new-builts
  • Solutions in the form of products and ways of doing things
  • Knowledge of key issues, including architectural quality in relation to sustainability, indoor air quality, life cycle accessment and certification schemes

There will also be workshops with discussions on topical and difficult issues.

This conference is the seventh in a row, alternately held in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland. The conference is open to all relevant materials, solutions and approaches regarding energy efficient and sustainable and green building and cities. The conference traditionally gathers a very broad audience from across the building industry in the Nordic countries.

Quality – peer review

A group of 25 international researchers and practitioners (the Scientific Committee) evaluates and selects among the submitted abstracts (proposals for lectures) and in the second round evaluates and comments the submitted papers (the subject described as an article). This ensures a high quality and prevents lectures consisting mainly of good intentions and PR lingo.

The organizers – Passivhus.dk, DTU and the Royal Academy’s School of Architecture – has in collaboration selected the themes and the Scientific Committee.

Networking in the evening

At the evening of the first day of the conference, you may participate at the delicious conference dinner. The dinner requires registration (with registration for the conference or later). The number of participants may be limited to 250.
